Greetings from the Florida Chapter of APPA! The purpose of this letter is to solicit your membership in FLAPPA for the upcoming year. Membership dues are $100 per institution.

FLAPPA is continuing to grow and it has been a very exciting year for the Florida Chapter as well as the Southeast Region and APPA. Many of you attended organizational meetings in 2004 to get our Chapter off the ground. In July 2004, the national APPA organization in Washington, D.C. formally recognized our Florida chapter. In the fall of 2004, FLAPPA began its first membership drive, including Institutional and Business Partner Memberships.

In December a Host Committee was formed at the University of Central Florida to begin planning for the first Annual FLAPPA Conference – Establishing Partners for Success. In March, 2005, over 100 attendees and 23 Business Partner booths were represented at UCF, along with Ms. E. Lander Medlin, APPA; Brooks Baker III, University of Alabama Birmingham, APPA Past President; and Joseph Fisher, West Virginia University, SRAPPA President. In August, the UCF Physical Plant and the FLAPPA Executive Board hosted the APPA Leadership Forum held in Orlando.

We’ve worked very hard to define our purpose and establish a constitution and by-laws to ensure success. Owing to the efforts of many dedicated individuals and the support of the institutions they represent, FLAPPA continues to grow. We ask your support through your membership and we encourage all to get involved!

Our Purpose

To foster mutually supportive objectives among Florida higher educational facilities organizations;
To promote relationships that provide personal and professional development through leadership, educational, and networking opportunities for all facilities personnel;
To foster the professional spirit among persons engaged in this work; and
To aid and supplement the work of the international organization, APPA: The Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers.
